This stiıdy was undertaken in 20 female and 11 mak, a Lola! of 31 patients scheduled for elective surgical procedure. Prentedication was with diazeparn and aniisiine orally the night before and atropin and diazeparn 30 to 45 minutes preoperatively. Anesthesia was induced with Pethidin 11CI (50 mg), Midazolam (0.2 ntglItg) and Succinyl coline (1 mg/kg) and rnainiained using 50% 02, 50% N20 and Mi&zolarn infusion (7 mg1h) in 18 patients (Group o and 50%02, 50% N20 and 1% Ilalotharte in 13 patients (Group 11). In order to produce mucle relaxation, Vercroniunt brornide (0.1 rngikg) was used in etli patients. Ey using steril technique, prepheral venous puncture was perforrnad and blood samples were obtained to determine serum SGOT, SGPT and alkaline phosphatase mlevels preoperatively, 6 hours after operation and on the 2" and 54 posioperative days. The effects of anesthesia technique ta liver functions were evaluated and there was no signıficant difference in preoperative and postopera-live serum SGOT, SGPT and alkaline phosphatase levels in each group (p>0.05). bVe concluded that in certain patients Ilalothan has no hepatolixic effect and Midazolam infusin is preferable in high risc patients if it is desired to avoid using Ilalothane.
