Free bilirubin level in the hyperbilirubinemia of the newborn. In the newborn with hyperbilirubinemia, the most important factor that causes the kernicterus is the free bilirubin level.In the investigation that is performed about 45 newborn cases with hyperbilirubinemia,it has been observed that the free bilirubin levels are interested in the serum albumin levels. Exchange transfusion effects free bilirubin levels and after exchange transfusion, the free bilirubin in the serum disappears.
