The Frequency And Clinical Features Of Psoriatic Arthritis In Patients With Psoriasis

The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and clinical characteristics of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in patients with psoriasis (Ps). One hundred and four patients who are following with psoriasis in Dermatology outpatients were included. The patients were examined for PsA according to Classification criteria for psoriatic arthritis (CASPAR). Psoriatic arthritis was determined in 10 (% 9.6) patients. The first presenting symptom was skin lesion in five patients. The most common type of skin lesion was plaque Ps both Ps and PsA. Peripheric joint involvement was detected in 9 patients. The most common manifestation pattern is oligoarthritis (4 patients), followed by polyarthritis (3 patients), spondyloarthropathy (2 patients) and distal interphalangeal (DIP) arthritis (1 patient). The psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) was observed similarly in patients with PsA (4.92±5.3) and those without PsA (4.87±3.3). Nail involvement was significantly more common in patients with PsA (%100) than those without PsA (%53.2). As a result; the frequency of PsA in patients with Ps was found as % 9.6. Nail involvement was observed in all patients with PsA.
