Purpose: The role of gray-scale ultrasonography and color Doppler ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis of breast masses detected on mammography. Materials and Methods: Sixty-eight patients were included with breast masses in mammographic and sonographic examinations. The average age of presentation was 44,0 years. On color Doppler sonogram, vascularity of the lesions, the vascular patterns such as Central, peripheral were also evaluated. Results: There were 31 bening, 8 enflamatory and 29 malignant masses. By mammographic examination 48% of malignant lesions determined irregular spicular contour, 17% determined microcalcification. 75% of malign lesions and 100% of infection lesions shovved vascular flow in color Doppler imaging. 11% of benign lesions only shovved vascular flovv. Conlusion: Mammography is the primary method in the diagnosis of breast masses. Gray scale ultrasonography is a effectual method, particulary by experienced physician. The best use of color Doppler imaging as the combination with conventional sonography and mammography.
