Bilirubin-binding capacity in the hyperbilirubinemia of the newborn. The hyperbilirubinemia of the newborn is still keeping its importance on. A number of factors effect the occurence of kernicterus due to hyperbilirubinemia. Serum indirect bilirubin levels, bilirubin-binding capacity, serum albumin levels, gestational age, birth weight, postnatal survival days, and whether they have infections and asphyxia or not can be considered as the influenced factors.
