Fifty patients with atopic dermatitis and 25 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Prick and patch tests were applied. Serum IgE and eosinophilia levels were measured, Relationship between IgE, eosinophilia and prick-patch test was investigated. Prick and patch tests were positivite in 27 (54%) and 22 (44%) respectively. Serum total IgE levels were elevated in 28 patients (56%) and eosinophilia was found in 9 patients (18%). Total IgE levels were elevated in 70.4 % and eosinophilia was found in 29 % of prick positivite patients. 50 % of patch positivite patients had elevated serum total IgE levels. Eosinophilia was found in 13.6 % of them. There was a statistically significant difference in the results of patch test between study and control groups (P=0.032). Prick, patch test and elevated serum total IgE levels were found in 36 %, 16 %, 4% in the control group, respectively. Eosinophilia was not seen. When total IgE and eosinophilia levels in the study and control group were compared, statistically significant relation was found (P=0.000) (P=0.025).
