Intravenous administration of rocuronium often leads to injection pain. We investigated the effect of diphenhydramine pretreatment, reducing the incidence of pain on rocuronium injection. This randomized study was carried out on ASA I-II, 60 adult patients for elective surgery under general anesthesia. Patients were divided into two groups, thirty patients in each. After tournique application on forearm and inflation to 70 mmHg, 2 ml saline, 2 ml (20 mg) diphenhydramine were given in Group S (n=30) and Group D (n=30) respectively. 30 seconds after the pretreatment, tournique was deflated and 10 mg rocuronium was injected over 10 seconds. The patients were asked immediately to assess pain with 4 point pain scale. No significant differences were noted in the number of patiens who had no pain and mild pain in group S and D (p>0.05). Number of patients who had moderate and severe pain was higher in Group S than Group D (p
