In order to investigate the relation hetween the thyroid radionuclide scanning and the histopathological findings, we reviewed 125 patients operaled on from 1984 to 1988 in Korkuteli State Hospital. Sixty seven point five percent of patients had multinodular and 32.5% uninodular goiter. One hundred sir patients underwent thyroid radionuclide scanning and 85.8% revealed hypoactive, 6.6% hypoactive and normoactive, 3.8% hyperactive nodules and 3.8% other pathologies. Ali of the 125 patients were euthyroid at the time of operation. Mnety seven point six percent of the patients underwent unilateral or bilateral subtotal thyroidectomy. In 100 patients who had histopathologic exarnination had 131 hislopathologic diagnosis. In 81 patients who had hypoactive nodules determined with radionuclide scanning, 68.8% were diagnosed as multinodular goiter, 16.5% follicular edenoma, 7.4% chronic thyroiditis, 5.5% malig, nant thyroid disease and 1.8% colloidal cyst histopathologically.
