The recuıTence rate and testicular complications seen (iter COnventional inguinal hernıa repair are stili being dehated. Reilıforcement of the inguinal prepe-ritoneal space between the peritoneal and musculo-fascial planes may have some advantages over the conventional hernia repair. Between November 1988 and December 1992,84 groin hernias in 56 patients >vere treated with preper-itoneal svnthetic mersilen mesh hernioplasty through a suprapubic transverse incision. During hernioplasty, lower abdoıninal operations (12 trans-vesical prostatectomy, 2 Ripstein operations and 2 oyarian cystectomies) vere pelformed on 10 of the patients.
