Manual compression has been the traditional method of hemostasis following interventional vascular procedures. Recently, vascular closure devices are used after many vascular interventional procedures. In this study, our aim is to determine the efficacy of vascular closure device in interventional neuroradiologic procedures. Between September 2007 and May 2011, a total of 76 patients (39 male and 37 female) included to study. The mean age of the patients was 58 years. All of the procedures applied in the treatment was intracranial aneurysms or carotid artery stenting. Vascular closure device was applied successfully in all patients except for one patient (%98.6). Hemostasis was achieved in 72 of these patients at the time and in full. First day and first month after the procedure, femoral artery and the peripheral branches was checked by physical examination and could not find abnormality. In conclusion vascular closure devices can be used quickly, safely and effectively in interventional neuroradiologic procedures.
