Visual Fixation in Reading Sentences and isolated Words

In reading of a text the eyes fixate on the most apprepriate point on the line for word identification. There is a great deal of variability both within and between subjects in respects of saccade lenghts and fixation duration. The variabilites mentioned in the relevant English and French literature are also detected in Turkish language by this study. Additionaly, fixation point is more persistent on the left half of the isolated words than on the ie.?ft half of the contectual ones. This results is disscussed in the light of rhe knowledge about parafoveal perception and contectual effects
