Aim: Renal biopsy is performed for the diagnosis and the decision of treatment of renal parenchymal diseases. The aim of this study was to evauate the clinicopathological findings of kidney biopsies. Material and Method: 78 percutan renal biopsies were performed by ultrasonography in our institution during the period between January 2000 and December 2006. Results: The most common renal biopsy indication was nephrotic syndrome (n:39, 50%). Other indications were association of nephrotic and nephritic syndrome (n:14, 18%) and nephritic syndrome (n:7, 9%). The most mikroskocommon nephropathy was mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (n:15, 19%) which was followed by Henoch Schonlein purpura nephritis (n:14, 18%), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (n:8, 10%) and lupus nephritis (n:8, 10%). Primary glomerular diseases (n:48, 62%) is more frequent than secondary glomeruler diseases (n:30, 38%). Conclusion: The present study which evaluated 78 renal biopsies showed that nephrotic syndrome was the most common indication for renal biopsy. Histopathologically, the most frequent nephropathy was mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis. These results suggest that renal biyopsy results in children can show regional variances and have a fairly different distrubition from those of the adults.
