We aimed to investigate the markers and possible risk factors of urinary infection in predialysıs patients with CRF and patients undergoing dialysis by comparing groups younger or older than 65 years of age. We evaluated 82 patients with chronic renal failure who have been followed by nephrology and infectous disease policlinic due to urinary infection during January 2012 and December 2012 in medical faculty of Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University. The patient in the predialysis period was accepted as group I, the patients ongoing dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD was accepted as group II. 58 (70,7%) of these patients were in dialysis program. 34 (29,3%) were in predialysis patients. The average age of the patients in predialysis group was 63, 62±15,482 and the average age of the patients in dialysis group were 50, 08±21,086. (45,1%) of these patients were ≥65 years old and compared with serum levels of the kolesterol, trigliserid ve albumin, levels in ≥65 years old cases were statistically significant than ≤65 years old cases. Escherichia coli was microorganism that the most commonly isolated in urinary cultures in both groups. (43.9%) of patients were diabetic. There was no statistical difference between the levels of serum CRP, ESR and leucocytosis between the groups (p>0.05). Fever, pyuria and nitrite positivity between the predialysis and dialysis groups was statistically no significant. Comorbidity in the group above 65 years of age may increase the tendency of infection.
