This study included 126 Down syndrome cases (81 males and 45 females) who had regular trisomy 21 in 120 cases, chromosome 21q trisomy in 5 and a mosaic karyotype in one case. The ratio of males to females was found to be 2:1 in regular trisomy 21 and 1:4 in chromosome 21q trisomy. The study implicated that trans-locations that were found were mostly matemal in origin. it is alsa noteworthy that the frequency of consanguinity among the parents having children with Down syndrome (21.6%) was not different from the population fre-quency in Konya (23.2%). Moreover, the mean age of ~her having children with Down syndrome was de-termined to be 30.7
