Otoacoustic emulsions are the amount of energy in the auditory frequency that originates from the cochlea, carried to the external auditory canal via the inner ear fluids, the small chain and the tympanic membrane. In other words, it is the cochlear energy release recorded from the external auditory canal. Views about cochlear function have changed enormously over the past 10 years. Morphological, physiological, psychoacoustical and experimental studies on this subject have contributed to this change. The most important contribution to the views on cochlear function is the fact that the cochlea is a structure that not only receives sounds but also produces acoustic energy. As it is known, auditory sensory cells are a meta-canoreceptor that converts mechanical stimulus to electrical impulse. Due to the mechanical function of the middle ear, the fluctuation that starts in the inner ear fluids causes excitatory and inhibitory action in the ciliary de-metes of the sensory cells in the corti organ, while this movement is in the excitatory direction, it initiates the release of afferent neurotrans ilter agent in the synaptic space, resulting in a neural impulse.
