Parapharyngeal Abscess Caused By Rothia Dentocariosa

\n Rothia dentocariosa is a gram-positive, aerobic bacteria that is a part of the normal flora in the oral cavity and respiratory tract. Although it is a rare cause of head and neck region infection, it may be observed in immunosuppressed individuals. Here we report the case of an 33-year old man who developed parapharyngeal abscess that was caused by R. dentocariosa after acute tonsillitis. This is the first case report of a parapharyngeal abscess caused by R. dentocariosa in the literature.
