18 yaşında, vaginal akıncı ve genital bölge kaşıntısı şikayeti ile Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum ABD polikliniğine müracaat eden bir havadan üretilen gram-negatif bakterilerden serolojik olarak Alkalescens-Dispar grubuna uyan bir suş ayırt edilmiştir. E. coli türleri ile yakın akraba olan bu türün nadir bir grup oluşu nedeniyle yayınlanması uygun görülmüştür.
