Çekal volvulus intestinal obstrüksiyonun sık olmayan nedenlerinden biridir. Tüm intestinal obstrüksiyonların %1'ini ve tüm kolonik obstrüksiyonların %3'ünü oluşturur. Operasyon, tedavinin kabul edilen şekli olmakla birlikte son yıllarda literatürde bazı cerrahi olmayan tedavi teknikleri de bulunmaktadır.
