Haziran 1983-Eylül 1989 tarihleri arasında 51 femur boyun kırığı yakasına Thompson protezi uygulandı. Ortalama yaşları 64.8 olan hastaların 18'i erkek (9040), 33'ü kadın (%60) idi. Cerrahi işlem bütün hastalarda posterolateral girişle uygulandı. erken komplikasyon olarak bir ölüm, bir fibular sinir yaralanması ve bir dislokasyon meydana geldi. Değerlendirmeye alınan 34 hastanın ortalama takipleri 24 ay idi. Bunların 24 önde radyolojik değerlendirme yapıldı. Bir vakada asetabulurnda çökrne. bir vakada asetabulurrıda aşınma ve bir vakada da protezde gevşeme tespit edildi.
