Bir kapro-epidemiyolojik araştırmaya katkıda bulunacağı düşüncesiyle Mayıs 1983 - Aralık 1984 tarihlerinde parazitoloji laboratuvarımıza gelen 3400 hasta dışkısı nativ preparasyon yöntemi ile barsak parazitleri yönünden incelenmiştir. 1356 hasta dışkısında %39.8 oranında bir veya birden fazla barsak parazitine rastlanmıştır. Parazitlerin %76.1'ini protozoonlar, %23.9'unu helmintler oluşturmaktadir.
