Disk bulginginin, lumbal vertebranın flaksiyon ve ekstansiyonundan etkilendiği, genel olarak kabul edilmektedir. M4.5 ve L5-S1 seviyelerinde, diskinde dejeneratif değişim olan 20 hasta, 39 seviye, disk bulgingi ile vertebranın fleksiyon-ekstansiyon hareketi arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla. bilgi-sayarlı tomografi ile değerlendirildi. Fleksiyonda, vertebradisk mesafesinde (VD), 16 (%47) seviyede, ekstansiyonda ise 32 (%94) seviyede azalma oldu. Fleksiyonda 18 (%53) seviyede, ekstansiyonda ise hernili 5 (%100) seviyede, VD'de artma oldu.
