Kolon kanserlerinin etiyolojik faktörleri ile ilgili çalışmalar uzun süredir devam etmektedir. Genetik faktörlerin etkili olduğu iki klinik tablo tanımlanmıştır. Bunlar familyal adenomatöz polipoid sendrom ve Lynch sendromudur. Oto- zomal dominant geçiş gösteren Lynch sendromu yüksek penetransa sahiptir ve kolon kanserlerinin küçük bir gru­ bunu oluşturmaktadır. Birinci derece akrabalarından 4 kişide kolon kanseri bulunan ve kendisi de kolon kanseri nedeniyle öpere edilen bir Lynch sendromu vakası literatür eşliğinde sunuldu.
