42 kontrol ve 15 obez olmak üzere toplam 57 denekte, obezite ile sigara kullanımı ve yaş faktörünün akciğer fonksiyon testleri (AFT) üzerine olan etkisi incelendi. Obesitenin obstrüktif ve restriktif tipte akciğer fonksiyon bozukluğuna (AFB) yol açtığı, obstrüktıf tip değişikliklerde sigara kullanımının da etkili olabileceği, yaşın ilerlemesiyle AFB arasında anlamlı bir korrelasyon bulunmadığı saptandı.
