Psödornembranöz enterokolit (PMEC) an-tibiyotik kullanmış ve diyaresi olan kişilerde en-doskopik olarak tanımlanmış psödomembranlar ve mikroabselerle karekterize klinik bir tablodur. Hastalığın en önemli hazırlayıcı nedeni an-tibiyotik kullanımı olmakla birlikte anfibiyotik ön-cesi dönemde de görülmüş olması patogenezde başka faktörlerin de rol oynayabileceğini dü-şündürrnüş, ancak PMEC 1960'1r yıllarda nadiren gözlenmiş iken linkomisin, klindamisin ve geniş spektrumlu bela 'aktan' antibiyotiklerin uygulanmasını takiben artış göstermiştir.
