Perikardial drenaj, genel durumu bozuk olan hastalara uygulanabilecek en iyi tedavi yöntemidir. Çünkü böyle hastalara ameliyat çok ağır gelmekte, enfeksiyonun etrafa yayılması da önlenememektedir. Ayna zamanda perikardiosentezle, perikardın muayenesi yapılabilmekte, histopatolojik teşhis için de materyal alma imkânı bulunmaktadır. Yukarıda saydığımız üstünlüklerinden dolayı 5 vakamıza perikardial drenaj uyguladık ve çok iyi sonuçlar aldık.
